Term Definition
Rhinoplasty An operation to improve the appearance and function of the nose. This usually involves reshaping the underlying bone and cartilage of the nose.
Septum The partition between the naval cavities.
Septoplasty An operation that straightens a septum which is deflected into one side of the nasal cavity (causing a blocked nose).
Turbinate A part of the nose (on each side) that humidifies and warms inspired air. Large turbinates can cause nasal obstruction.
