Term Definition
Osteotomy Cuts made in the nasal bones.
Otolaryngology The branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat conditions, facial plastic surgery, and head & neck disorders. A commonly used term for this speciality is ENT (ear, nose and throat).
Otoplasty A surgical operation to change the shape of the external ears – most commonly to set back prominent ears.
Paranasal Sinuses Air–containing cavities within the facial bones and skull with narrow drainage openings into the nose. Obstruction of drainage pathways results in build–up of mucous or pus in the sinuses and may result in symptoms of sinusitis. Includes frontal, ethmoid, maxillary and sphenoid sinuses.
