Blepharoplasty involves removal of excess skin as well as excision and repositioning of herniated orbital fat, in order to achieve a more youthful appearance of the eyes.

Eyelids are often one of the first areas of the face to exhibit signs of aging – typically due to excess skin, and bulging of the eyelids due to herniation of fat under the orbital muscle, which may cause cosmetic concerns, and even impairment of vision. Patients are often concerned that droopy eyelids make them look older than they feel.

Blepharoplasty surgery typically takes 1–2 hours under general anaesthetic. Careful analysis of facial aesthetics and full discussion of any concerns and expectations will be done at the clinic visit.

It is important to have realistic expectations about the outcome of surgery, as well as being aware of what the procedure involves and potential complications.
